I have been hunting the same family lease for years, and for most of that time I checked trail cameras the hard way: I walked in, pulled the card, and walked out. It worked, but it cost me. Every trip in left scent, and more than once I bumped a deer that was bedded down in the thick stuff. In the summer of 2025, Cody talked me into upgrading the whole kit at once, and the Moultrie Edge 2 Cellular Trail Camera was the piece I was least sure about. A season later, I am sure.

This is not a review from someone who unboxed a camera and took one picture in the yard. I ran the Edge 2 for the full 2025-26 deer season and the spring turkey season after it. It sat on the edge of the food plot, on a basic monthly data plan, and it changed how I scout. For the longer version of that story, the Moultrie Edge 2 long-term review has the full breakdown.

Stop Walking In to Check Your Cameras

The Moultrie Edge 2 sends photos straight to your phone through the Moultrie Mobile App. If you are tired of bumping deer just to pull a card, this is the camera I would buy again.

How I Used It

I hung the Edge 2 on a pine at the edge of the food plot, about chest high, facing the trail where the deer come out. The tree mount makes that easy. It is a box-style camera with a plastic housing and a waterproof build, and it weighs 1.1 pounds, so the strap holds it without a second thought. I set it up through the Moultrie Mobile App, chose the basic monthly data plan, and let it run.

I checked it from the truck on the way out, and again from the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. The app showed me photos and video without me setting foot in the woods. That is the whole difference. It is not about working harder. It is about not working harder in the wrong place.

Ten Reasons the Moultrie Edge 2 Earned Its Spot

1

You Stop Walking In to Check Cameras

The whole point of a cellular camera is the trip you do not take. The Moultrie Edge 2 uses the Moultrie Mobile App to send photos to your phone, so you can check the food plot from the truck or the kitchen table. I used to walk in every three or four days to pull cards. That was a mile of walking, and I bumped deer every time. Now I check the same plot without leaving the road.

2

You See Deer Movement Without Adding Pressure

Every time you walk into a bedding area, you leave scent. A cellular camera lets you watch the same edge of the food plot without marking it up. The Edge 2 sits on a tree at the edge of the plot, and I only walk in when I need to move it or change batteries. That is maybe three times a season instead of twenty.

The 36MP Photos Hold Up on a Phone Screen

The Edge 2 takes 36MP photos. On a phone, that is sharp enough to count points and see a limp. You are not squinting at a blurry shape and trying to decide if it is a buck or a stump. The detail is the difference between a quick look and a real read on what is using the plot.

1080p Video With Audio Tells You More Than a Photo

When the motion sensor catches something, the Edge 2 records 1080p HD video with audio. You hear the leaves crunch, not just see a shape. That audio matters when you are trying to figure out which side of the ridge the deer are using. A photo is a snapshot. Video with sound is a report.

Auto Connect Means You Do Not Fiddle in the Woods

Moultrie's Auto Connect technology handles the 4G LTE link. I strapped the camera to the tree, opened the Moultrie Mobile App, and it found the network. I did not stand in the rain messing with menus. It worked the way you hope new gear works.

6

Nationwide Coverage Means It Works on the Lease and Public Land

The Edge 2 uses nationwide cellular coverage. My lease is an hour north of Mobile, and I have also run it on a small piece of public ground. Same camera, same app, same setup. That matters when you hunt more than one place in a season.

7

USA-Based Support When Something Goes Wrong

Moultrie backs the Edge 2 with USA-based support. I had a question about the app one evening, and I got a straight answer without a runaround. That matters when you are a week from opening day and you need the camera working.

8

It Is Light Enough That You Will Actually Move It

The Edge 2 weighs 1.1 pounds. That is light enough to move from the food plot to a pinch point when the season changes. A heavy camera stays where you first hung it. This one earns its spot in the truck.

Night Vision Keeps an Eye on the Plot After Dark

Deer around here move at first light and last light, and a lot of them come in well after dark. The night vision keeps working after the sun goes down, so you wake up to a full picture of the night before. You know what came through.

10

It Earned Its Spot in the Truck

I bought the Edge 2 late in the summer of 2025, before last deer season. One full season in, it has saved me more trips than I can count. The data plan is month to month with no strings attached, and the camera does what Moultrie says it will do. If you are choosing between this and a Tactacam Reveal, the side-by-side comparison is worth a read.

The Bottom Line

If you are on the fence, ask yourself one question: how many times did you walk in to check a camera last season and wish you had not? For me, the answer was every time. The Moultrie Edge 2 did not make me a better hunter. It made me a calmer one. I spent less time bumping deer and more time sitting where I knew they would be. That is worth more than any gear upgrade I have made in years.

What I'd Skip

Not every hunter needs a cellular camera. If you hunt a small property you can see from the house, or you genuinely like the walk in, this is a luxury. If you do not want a monthly data plan, skip it. And if you are not comfortable using a phone app, the Moultrie Mobile App is straightforward, but it is still an app. The Edge 2 is for hunters who want the information without the pressure. If you want the story behind why I switched to cellular this past season, the advertorial tells it.

I saved at least a dozen trips last season, and I did not spook a single deer walking in to check a card.

The Bottom Line on the Moultrie Edge 2

One full season in, it is still on the tree. If you want the same freedom, check today's price on Amazon.
